Duct Tape Safety Glasses: MacGyver Style
One thing that always bothered me as a safety minded Home Repair Guide, was that MacGyver never wore safety glasses. I mean, the guy is making bombs, playing with chemicals and blowing stuff up, yet he never seemed to protect his eyes.
So I thought I'd come up with a MacGyveresque approach to safety glasses using duct tape, a hanger, a beer bottle and two plastic furniture caster cups. (You could use tube socks too, but as a carrying case...).
In the tutorial How to Make Duct Tape Safety Glasses I provide you a detailed, photo filled step-by-step tutorial on how to make your own stylish set of these specs!

Bob,
You do realize that MacGyver was a tv show. People are smart enough to know that you can’t make a plane out of a bandaid and that you should wear safety glasses when you are doing repairs. You have too much time on your hands if you let something like that bother you.
Difference is I was only joking. You actually took time out of your day to comment on something like this?! Wow.
Maybe a good idea, except that safety goggles should actually protect your eyes, not result in further damage. I’m sure it will feel great when those lenses made from a beer bottle shatter into your eyes.
Jarhead, C’mon I would not use beer bottoms as the lenses! Read the tutorial man! The lenses are shaterproof and made from plastic furniture cups

The beer bottle is only used as a form to help shape the wire frame.
