Vinyl Siding Repair

By , About.com Guide   June 21, 2009

Follow me on:

Vinyl siding has limitations. It is prone to impact damage (the photo shows damage due to a hail storm), melts when exposed to extreme heat and becomes increasingly brittle as it gets cold. But even in the summer if a baseball or golf ball hits it, your vinyl siding can break or crack.

Then what? With colors and textures often not found in nature, matching existing vinyl siding can be hard to achieve. And without knowledge of how to separate the strips of siding, you'll never get them apart.

Well, don't worry. I'll show you how to repair damaged vinyl siding for under $10 (if you have spare siding material). And I'll also let you know where you can find discontinued siding styles and colors so that repair looks great!

Great articles on home maintenance and repairs. However, there is a better way to clean out rain gutters other than a spatula, scoop, brush, water, bucket, etc. That’s a great deal more dangerous than cleaning them planted firmly on the ground. I threw all my gutter wands, tongs, scoops, etc out after I bought on-line the Gutter Clutter Buster, which is an attachment for a wet/dry vac that vacuums out all the junk. And, a heck of a lot safer. A nasty dirty job almost becomes fun, and sure is a lot cleaner too.

This information is really helpful. I actually need some more help before deciding what to do for a siding repair. I would like to hire someone to do it for me too, if you can recommend one thanks in advance.

I watched this before, it also gives useful ideas, although I would like to get more details before deciding. =)
