Introduction

Installing a garbage disposal is fairly straight forward but does require some plumbing and electrical wiring skills. Before any work is started regarding installation, you'll need to have a dedicated 20 Amp 120V outlet located under the sink in close proximity to the disposal.

Make sure the electrical circuit to the disposal is turned off before installation begins. You do this by going to your electrical service panel and either removing the fuse or turning off the circuit breaker feeding power to the unit.
