Definition: THHN stands for Thermoplastic High Heat Resistant Nylon coated wiring as specified by the National Electrical Code and is labeled "oil and gas resistant." The wire is rated to 600 volts and is used in areas where oil and gas may come into contact with the wire such as in a garage.
