PROBLEM: Air Conditioner Cycles On and Off Too Frequently

Possible Causes:
Thermostat or Temperature Sensor

Possible Solutions:

  • Check to make sure the thermostat sensor is properly positioned near but not touching the evaporator coil by carefully adjusting the wire.
  • Check to make sure the thermostat or part of the front panel is not obstructed with drapes.
  • Have the unit serviced and check for a small refrigerant leak if performance continues to get worse.
  • Check that the condenser is not obstructed with leaves or that its fins are not severely damaged / bent. If bent, repair with a fin comb.
